Agreement Overview

By using LingoBudi, you agree to these terms. LingoBudi is a free, open, client-side language learning tool. There is no paid subscription, no account creation beyond Google sign-in, and no data collection. These terms exist to set clear expectations for both sides.

What LingoBudi Is

LingoBudi is a static, client-side web application that provides an AI-powered language learning interface. The app:

  • Runs entirely in your browser — there is no backend server
  • Uses your own Google Gemini API key to power AI conversations
  • Stores data locally in your browser and optionally in your personal Google Drive

Your Responsibilities

  • API Key Security — You are responsible for keeping your Gemini API key secure. Do not share it with others. If you suspect your key has been compromised, delete it in Google AI Studio and create a new one.
  • API Costs — Google's free tier includes ~250 messages per day. When you hit the limit, requests are simply paused until midnight Pacific Time — you are never automatically charged. If you choose to enable billing in Google Cloud Console for higher limits, you are responsible for any charges billed directly by Google. LingoBudi has no involvement in your Google billing.
  • Acceptable Use — Use LingoBudi for personal language learning. Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or misuse the application.

Provided "As Is"

LingoBudi is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated language content will be perfectly accurate. LingoBudi is a learning aid, not a certified language course. Always verify important translations independently.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LingoBudi and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the application. This includes, but is not limited to, any costs incurred from third-party API usage, data loss from clearing browser storage, or reliance on AI-generated content.

Changes & Availability

  • We may update, modify, or discontinue LingoBudi at any time without prior notice.
  • These terms may be updated periodically. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of any changes.
  • Since all your data is stored locally or in your own Google Drive, discontinuation of LingoBudi does not delete your data.
